Agriculture 4.0

From farm management, crop and herd management to precision farming - digitization and automation have long been part of modern agriculture. With its modular platform for digital farm management, 365FarmNet is a leader in the field of agricultural software. The system supports farmers not only in the planning and control of work processes and in documentation, but also in sustainable, resource-conserving and cost-optimized farming. Large volumes of data are generated in the process.

Using data to add value

The main goal of the project was to analyze existing data and generate meaningful reports for customers. Nutrient reports on fertilization as well as reports on crop yields were to help farmers make better, data-driven decisions for the future. Important requirements were that the reporting should be easy to use and well visualized. The added value of the reporting should also improve the customer experience and increase customer loyalty.

High agile maturitycopied!

It quickly became clear that a shared understanding of Scrum and a high level of agile maturity on both sides paved the way for the joint success of the project. As a result, the team achieved a high level of productivity after only a short time and was able to reach demanding interim goals such as the release of a testable prototype for the leading trade fair Agritechnica on time. In the further course of the project, the development work was also always on time and on budget.

Long-term full stack partner

While the focus of slashwhy was initially on the frontend, especially the visualization - from the conception, to the selection of a charting library, to the realization of the reports - the team gradually developed into a full-stack partner, including the development of a service for PDF export. This allowed the development of the solution within a scaled Scrum setup at 365FarmNet to be largely self-sufficient. In the meantime, slashwhy has been able to establish itself as a long-term partner in the area of software development at 365FarmNet.

Achievements & Outcome

  • The number of users and the intensity of use of the product were significantly increased.
  • User feedback on the crop-specific reports is consistently very good.
  • The visualization concept developed by slashwhy based on the D3 Charting Library and the PDF export are now used as central components within the entire farm management platform.
